Whatever the reason, it's pretty self-defeating for the product to know that the odds are stacked against you that the printer will do its job throughout the day and workweek without you having to stop what you are doing to reset your network just so you can print. In fact, I'm pretty positive it's the energy-saver feature that can't be disabled that causes the problem.
I'd like to think it's a router issue, but after having this consistently occur using three different wireless routers, I'm inclined to believe its the printer. Then it disconnects and you have to reboot your router to get it back. No other way to fix a missing or incorrectly installed printhead that never left, was never uninstalled, but one day was working fine and the next is not.īut, that's just the last of the irritating and irreparable problems with this printer. Unless it's out of warranty, then no help is available. If that doesn't resolve it, call to have it repaired. Depending on which HP support page you read, the only option available to attempt to repair the device is to unplug it from the wall for 10 to 20 seconds, or 60 seconds, and then plug it back in. It's lasted until August 2016 before ending it's lifecycle with the error message "The printhead appears to be missing, not detected, or incorrectly installed." Can't fathom how any of those possibilities might have occurred as this appears to be one of the few HP all-in-one printers that does not allow the printhead to be removed.
